Downtown Primary Care Centre
Primary Care describes the first-contact services a person receives when seeking health care.
The Downtown Primary Care Centre offers confidential health services to anyone (children, youth, adults and families) needing assistance regardless of income, race or social situation.
Services at Downtown Primary Care are based on need and provided through a non-judgmental, culturally-safe approach.
Downtown Primary Care Centre is staffed by a medical assistant, a nurse practitioner, part-time physicians, and a clinical coordinator/case manager.
This program is held by Interior Health and is not a Friendship Centre program.

Services
Programs
- Diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury, wound care, chronic disease management, nutrition counseling, etc.
- Referral to other appropriate services including street clinic, mental health addictions, family support, etc.
In collaboration with the NOYFESS street Clinic we also provide:
- HIV/AIDS prevention, testing and education
- Adult immunization for prevention of illness
- Hepatitis A, B, & C testing and education
- Sexually transmitted disease screening treatment, and education
- Reproductive health services including pregnancy testing & contraceptive counseling

Our Host
First Nations Friendship Centre (FNFC)
The FNFC has partnered with Interior Health to provide space for Downtown Primary Care within their Wholistic Family Centre.
The mandate of the FNFC is to improve the quality of life for Aboriginal people in an urban environment by supporting self-determined activities which encourage equal access to, and participation in, Canadian society and which respect Aboriginal cultural distinctiveness.
