A Child's Roots are Forever

AChild’s Roots are Forever is a provincial program responsible for working with Aboriginal children and youth in care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) to ensure their connection to family, community and culture is respected and honoured.

The Roots Practitioner will assist Ministry social workers to develop cultural plans for children who have come to the attention of the Ministry by correctly identifying a child’s ancestry, extended family and community as early as possible.

The Roots Celebration brings these young people and their foster families together with Elders and other community members to celebrate and honour a better understanding and connection with each other.
